  Welcome To "Before The KC130"

The aircraft described here are the aircraft used by the Marine Corps transport squadrons before the GV-1's, later designated KC-130 arrived into service in 1961.  This history for these planes is limited, and a list of serial numbers is believed to be non-existent.

In reading over the brief histories, and the specifications for the aircraft, it was noted that with the technologies of those times, the men who flew these planes were more than just pilots, navigators, and engineers.  They were pioneers.

I am asking that anyone with information, stories, or some old photographs for these aircraft, contact Nick@kc130.com.  I would  love to be able to put some formal history to these aircraft types from the men who were there.

Roger Wyckoff Sends This Video Clip and Information on The B-17

I really enjoyed flying in the B-17 Liberty Belle. It was about 25 to 30 minutes long. They made sure that everyone had a chance to spend some time in the cockpit and up front at the bombardier's position.

Clcik Here for the Video Clip of the B-17 in Taxi

Jim Mandelblatt Sends This Picture of B-17 (Junior) Painted as the Memphis Bell

Nick,

Attached is a photo of "Junior", what I call the B-17 my dad flew painted as Memphis Belle. The original Belle is currently being restored at the Air Force Museum, after years of neglect in Memphis. (the B-17G at the AF Museum - SHOO SHOO SHOO BABY - may be going to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum annex at Dulles airport).

I took the photo at the Andrews AFB Airshow..two days after seeing it fly over my house in Annapolis, MD.

Jim
