Kevin Keller
provided the
following
information for
150684:
Thanks Kevin
684 was struck
in the late 90s
because it made
an aborted
takeoff at
Keesler AFB in
Biloxi MS, went
off the end of
the runway and
ended up in the
bay. The nose
was submerged in
salt water for
about 8 hours up
to the flight
station floor.
VMGRT-253 made a
one time flight
back to Cherry
Point for rework
at NADEP, but by
the time funding
was in place to
make the
necessary
repairs, the
salt had
corroded the
aircraft beyond
economic
feasibility.
Anyone with
stories about
this plane are
encouraged to
send them to
Nick for
postings. Also
any other
photo's of this
plane or the
crew's that flew
her.
