Morgado Send's This Information on 895's
Status
Last I heard 895 was still in the dirt,
I know they removed the engines,
but the rest of it was still there. I
heard the helo guys were bombing
it with empty cans of Hydraulic fluid.

GySgt. Delbert Cogswell Sends us This
Information Update on The Crash of
148895:
Thanks Delbert.

A few details pertaining to the
crash of A/C 148895. All crew members
walked away from this crash with only
minor injuries. I was the QA Chief of
VMGR-252 at the time of the incident. I
was deployed to 29 Palms as part of the
Salvage and reclamation team and tech
advisor for the powerplant systems. I
spent a total of eight weeks with this
A/C there in its final resting place.
Engines number one and four experienced
flameouts and that was the main cause of
the crash. The two engines were removed
and sent to an Allison facility for
testing. As I understand it only one of
the engines had decoupled. I was not
privy to the actual findings of the
Aviation Mishap Board as to what
actually caused the flameouts. I do know
that I took pictures of every fuel valve
in every dry bay along with several
pictures of the center console and
engine instrument panel.
